A Resistance Persistence Index (RPI) for antimicrobial resistance in wastewater

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) represents one of the most significant public health challenges of the 21st century, compromising the efficacy of antibiotics and leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs globally. In recent years, prioritization of AMR risks in environmental matrices has become possible with the development of ranking systems. We are proposing a new framework that we tested on WWTP influent integrating existing frameworks into a new RPI index. propose it as a valuable tool for future studies on AMR in environmental settings. Preprint coming soon!
